Elimination Communication Benefit: Deepen Connection with your Baby

Elimination Communication Benefit: Deepen Connection

I honestly think that if I did not do Elimination Communication with my son, Kaiva, we would not be nearly as close as we are today.

We would not have so many intuitive moments of connection and cute little private jokes.

He wouldn’t have talked or walked so early, and so articulately.

I would have had to deal with way more poop.

But the most important part of all is our connection. It is deep as the ocean and I owe that mostly to EC.

Infant Potty Training is a practice that requires presence and awareness. It hones the intuition. It is dang fun.

More scientifically, Dr. Sears, pediatrician, author, and Attachment Parenting guru, teaches parents to believe in the language value of baby’s cries.

Each cry is a cue…a communication.

When we look at it this way, we see that babies are constantly communicating. When you answer a cue, you build trust with each other and deepen your connection.

I’d estimate that about 1/3 of babies’ preverbal cries are due to needing to pee or poo and not wanting to soil themselves, the bed, or the caretaker.

That’s a bunch of opportunity to deepen a connection right there.

Enhancing your connection with your baby early-on will pay off like any good investment. EC is just one more way to respond, build trust, and enhance that precious parent-child connection. To tend the needs of the “whole child.”

In this way, Elimination Communication is in alignment with Attachment Parenting principles.

And, it’s a helluva great way to get even closer to a new lifelong friend.

How do you think EC has helped you connect with your little one?
